SELF-SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL DINING ROOM

In Nepal, 30% of children under the age of 5 die from malnutrition, and if they survive, malnutrition leaves them with physical and psychological consequences that will affect them for the rest of their lives.

The origin of the self-sustaining canteen project stems from the need to provide a daily meal to Nepal Ratna School children. At present, and in a general way, the children of Nepal make two meals daily, morning and evening, based on rice and lentils (Dal Bhat), which are the basis of Nepali cuisine. We provide a meal based on vitamins, calcium and protein that helps them improve their nutritional quality, based on nutrients specifically designed to meet the needs of children. Meals that are easy to prepare and easy to manage, such as rice pudding, cereals, fruit, chicken and vegetables.

In 2019 the dining room, kitchen and 15 premises were built for rent to traders. With these rentals we guarantee the economic sustainability needed to make a daily lunch for girls and girls. This fact, in the long run, will help in the development of the social conditions of life in general of the inhabitants of the area.

The project will significantly improve the basic nutrition of school children, we will encourage quality trade in decent conditions, we will help the development of the neighborhood, and create jobs.

This project is 68% subsidized by Terrassa City Council.
